ABOUT BOTOX

Botox treatment temporarily reduces the strength of the muscles of the face to reduce the appearance of lines due to facial expression. Frown lines (glabella lines), crows’ feet at the side of the eyes, and the horizontal lines (surprise lines) that run across the forehead are all signs of aging that Botox can address. Our expert medical team will ensure that you achieve great results without the “frozen” look. Additional Botox treatment areas include but are not limited to platysma bands, dimple chin, gummy smile, and bunny lines.

Botox is a great option for more people than you may think. Both men and women can suffer from a feeling of aging due to noticeable expression lines. Men with pronounced lines between the brow may look angry or stressed—and older than they feel. Botox can address this problem. Younger women who don’t see deep wrinkles but want to prevent them in the future are getting Botox too, with good results. Botox can be used as a preventative Anti-aging measure.

ADDITIONAL BOTOX TREATMENT AREAS

Botox for Hyperhidrosis of the Underarms and Palms

Are you unable to keep your underarm area dry, no matter how much antiperspirant you wear? Have clinical-strength treatments failed? Botox may be able to help you say goodbye to those embarrassing dark circles of sweat and get you feeling comfortable in your clothes again. It’s indicated to treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweat) in the underarm area and works by blocking nerve signals that stimulate sweat glands. It is also commonly used to treat sweaty palms.† In clinical studies, Botox provided 6.7 months (201 days) of drier underarms, on average.

Botox for TMJ†

TMJ (temporo-mandibular joint) disorders can make you feel miserable, from tension headaches, to achy, painful jaws, to teeth grinding. TMJ can also disturb your sleep, make eating painful, and can even result in lockjaw. Because Botox partially paralyzes the muscles that tense up and cause TMJ, it’s a simple, non-surgical way to treat the condition. Most people who get Botox for TMJ find that their muscle pain starts to lessen within a few days after treatment. Relief typically lasts for several months. Because Botox can “reset” these muscles, it may be a longer-term or permanent solution for some patients. To treat TMJ, we will inject Botox directly into the temple, the forehead, and the “chewing muscles” in your cheeks.

Botox for the Scrotum†

“Scrotox” is Botox for the scrotum, for men who’d like to improve their appearance “down there” by achieving a lower, smoother look. Scrotal Botox can even reduce sweat in the testicular area. Botox relaxes the muscles that contract the scrotum, leaving things to swing a little more freely. Many men feel it makes the scrotum look larger, giving them more desirable proportions. If you’ve been considering cosmetic treatments to enhance things downstairs and gain confidence in the bedroom, Botox for the scrotum may be right for you.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS*

Is Botox treatment safe?

Botox has been used for many years very safely in various medical conditions such as cerebral palsy and for about 20 years in cosmetic use. Side effects are very rare but allergic reactions and effects on other muscles to those being treated have been reported. In our years of experience, we have found Botox to be extremely safe. It is best to avoid alcohol at least one week prior to treatment. Any anti-inflammatory medications should be stopped two weeks before treatment as well in order to reduce possible bruising.

How long will treatment with Botox take?

A Botox Cosmetic treatment requires little time. So it’s possible to have the procedure done during a lunch hour and head right back to the office.

Will treatment with Botox hurt?

Botox is injected with a fine needle into specific muscles with minimum to no discomfort.

How long will it take to see results from treatment with Botox?

Botox generally takes 7-10 days to take full effect.

How long does Botox treatment last?

The effects of Botox are temporary and lasts up to 3 months. As muscle action gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to re-appear and the movement need to be re-treated. The lines and wrinkles often appear less severe with time because the muscles are being trained to relax.

How many Botox treatments will I need?

Botox is not permanent. After the effects of treatment wear off, should you like to come in for another treatment, you may do so at that time. We recommend an interval of at least 3 months. People who regularly use Botox, take good care of their skin, and get good results have said that their expression wrinkles come back less and less noticeably over time.

What other treatments may I need to enhance my Botox results?

Botox specifically addresses lines and wrinkles that are caused by movement of the muscles on your face. It does not address skin tone and texture or facial volume, so many patients find that using fillers, chemical peels, or microneedling to stimulate the skin and improve its tone will have a complementary affect with Botox and contribute to a youthful look.
