Similarities
Both Juvéderm and Restylane are made from a substance that is found naturally in your body called Hyaluronic Acid (HA). When injected into the skin, this HA draws water molecules to the skin, helping to hydrate it and plump it up. This helps smooth away fine lines and wrinkles and add volume to areas of the face that might have started to hollow out over time.
Another similarity between these two fillers is that they are both very versatile, and have different formulas that can be used to correct a number of issues, including:
- Thin or undefined lips
- Hollowed or undefined cheeks
- Hollowed tear troughs
- Chin dimples
- Smile lines
- Marionette lines from the corners of the mouth to the chin
Both of these treatments take about 30 minutes and offer immediate improvements. Also, because these fillers are made from an all-natural ingredient, there is little to no risk of allergic reaction.
Differences
The biggest difference between Juvéderm and Restylane is their formulas. Juvéderm is made from cross-linked strands of HA, so it is thinner than Restylane and flows easier. Restylane, on the other hand, is thicker and often described as granular. Because of this, many prefer to use Restylane to correct more severe lines and wrinkles and Juvéderm to treat mild creases and restore volume.
Juvéderm’s cross-linking also helps it last longer, with results lasting between 6 months to 2 years (depending on which version you receive)*. Restylane results typically last between 6 months to 1 year (depending on which version you receive)*.
