The Science of Dysport
Some lines and wrinkles, called dynamic wrinkles, are formed by the repetition of facial expressions over a long period of time. The movement of these muscles create folds in the skin that quickly spring back when we are young thanks to our collagen and elastin. As we age, however, our body slows the production of this collagen and elastin. As a result, our skin begins to lose its elasticity, and fine lines and wrinkles start to become etched onto our faces with each facial movement. Dysport seeks to help correct these lines and wrinkles by temporarily relaxing these muscles and giving your skin the chance to even out.
Dysport is made from a very small dose of a strain of a naturally occurring bacteria called clostridium botulinum. When injected into the muscles responsible for causing creases, it blocks the signal they receive from the brain. This temporarily relaxes them, allowing the skin to smooth out. Over time, the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles will begin to fade.*
